Bedazzled shoes!

So, you may remember from This Post all of the difficulties I had finding cute wedding shoes.
My dress is ivory, and in order to not need extra length, my heels had to be shorter than 2" high (well that, and the fact that I'm already 6 ft. tall barefoot). Add in the fact that it's an outdoor ceremony and wedges will keep me from sinking into the ground, my options were VERY limited. I knew I wanted some sort of heel, just because it makes me feel feminine and put-together. I also knew I wanted them to be appropriate for our black-tie affair. And have SOMETHING to do with our accent color: coral.

Here is the original:
White satin, not a very stable ankle strap, disgusting grosgrain ribbon behind brooch.
I mean, it's a cute shoe, just needed some work!

So here they are with some embellishing:

I dyed them ivory and added pearls behind the brooch after cutting off that ribbon.
Then, instead of the strap, I have 3 satin ribbons: ivory, coral, light pink.
The wedges have been decorated with a light pink sparkle

They are just the perfect little secret!

Emily

Keeping Busy!

In like a lion -- out like a lamb!

I just love the spring -- my senses are rejuvenated, and I become inspired again!
I've been busy designing some weddings and Bat Mitzvahs as of late, as well as crafting up various birthday gifts for friends and their babies.

And stuff for my own wedding.
Let's just say it's HARD to find CUTE bridal shoes with a low wedge heel.
In ivory.
Unless I am 80 years old.

But after weeks of searching, I found these:
BUT they are white. And what in heaven's name is up with that white grosgrain ribbon behind the embellishment???? Anyway, I removed that hot mess and dyed them ivory. And added some pearls and sparkle. And will tie with ribbons instead of that ankle strap.
When they dry, I will post a pic!

Sweet baby Meredith turned ONE! So she got a butterfly ribbon wreath for her Pottery Barn "brooke" inspired room:

My friends needed a painting for the wall behind their couch:

Our Save the Dates went out!!!
It's a magnet tied onto cardstock with hotel info:

And we've been doing a LOT of cheering on the CATS!!!

And I'm in the midst of training for the Potomac River Marathon on May 6.

More to come!

It's 2012!

Well it's the start of another year! I was busy as ever last year, and am so excited to see where Embellished by Emily will go in 2012! I LOVE the opportunities I've had to design in just this month alone!

Anna's baby shower. Baby girl is due any day now.
Her friend asked that the invitations be "Grateful Dead" with a "ballet twist," so that those of Anna's friends who identified the bears would get the homage to Anna and her husband, and those who didn't get it would just think the bears were cute. I think they turned out adorable!

For Christmas, I made glass paintings of all of my family members' dogs. I now have a new favorite hobby -- glass painting!

I had already done Tanya and Brian's bridal shower invitations, wedding invitations and now wedding programs. They were printed on alternating cream and green parchment paper for their late-December wedding.

Then Katie contacted me for some invitations for her parents' surprise 40th anniversary party. She gave me two pictures from their wedding to scan, and I came up with this idea. The card slides out from behind with all of the information right in the middle.

Those few highlights should bring us right up to date!
Looking forward to what's next :)

Warmly,
Emily

iPhone dump :)

Finished up my second puffy quilt -- this one was for Lisa's baby shower.
Can't wait to see Silas practicing tummy time on it!

Remember Katie and Jonny from last year? She loved their kSj monogram so much that she asked if I could come up with seasonal cards. We did 25 cards and envelopes each for spring, summer, fall and winter.
Here's my favorite -- spring!

Anyone else listening to Christmas music right now? No? Just me, then...

Wreaths for Others!

Stephanie loves monarch butterflies and requested this wreath.
Soo pretty! It can be autumn or summer!

How perfect is that ribbon that looks like a monarch butterfly? It's actually a Halloween ribbon. Perhaps spiderwebs? Who knows. It's PERFECT with the butterflies.

Emily

Late Summer Wedding Suite

Now that the fall wedding season is wrapping up, I can share pieces of this awesome wedding suite I did for Jenna and Alex. They saw the invitations I did for Rachel and Wes and loved them, so I used the same sunflower and changed up the colors to fit their style. Enjoy!

thank you cards
I also did the place cards, seating chart and programs, but because all of those have a lot of different peoples' names on them, I'm not going to post. The seating chart was 20x24 mounted on foam core board. The place cards were already at the tables and appropriately labeled with the dinner option of choice.

So fun! And so easy to work with.
Congrats Alex and Jenna!

Emily
